The Dark Side of the Life-Coaching Industry

T The Dark Side of the Life-Coaching Industry here is a genuine scam happening in the life-coach industry. I say that as an insider.

I have watched so many people give their hard earned money to "coaches" who have made millions off of them because of their own hunger for success.

Many people go to these conferences and believe that cutting a check for THOUSANDS of dollars to talk to someone for 30 minutes a week or watch their pre-recorded content will change their lives and transform their results. Maybe it will, for some.

Do some people still succeed? Sure. Is it great to be driven to succeed and do what it takes to get there? Absolutely! But chances are the people that were going to succeed were going to do it anyway, without a coach. Desire and drive were already deeply rooted in them.

I’ve worked behind the scenes on many of these events now and I can tell you that the majority of these people are total frauds. I say majority because I assume there are some good ones out there that mean well, and don’t just want you to help them buy their next mansion on the beach. Unfortunately, I have yet to work around any of the good or genuine ones yet. I really hope they actually exist.

These people, claiming to be qualified to coach you, get on stage and preach to you about positivity, but when they are back stage they are arguing with those closest to them, or yelling and cussing at their significant other.

They hire stylists to dress them so they look their best. They show up in high dollar, name brand clothing on stage, while leaving the tags on the clothes so they can return them after the show.

They teach you about manifestation techniques while finding ways to scam you out of your money, thereby “manifesting" YOUR money because you believe in the perception they have created. Perception is not reality.

They talk about God and/or spirituality but behind the scenes, they act anything but Christian.

They tell you not look down on others because that means you think you are above them. Meanwhile, they verbally abuse the event staff and treat them as if they are servants meant to cater to their every need.

It's bad enough that I have actually seen them refuse to pay companies they hire to assist with the event. I have also seen situations where they have to split the cost of the event across multiple credit cards. THESE are the people showing you "how to make money." They don't even have it themselves.

They bring additional speakers to their shows to speak about their success. Many of these people claim to be self-made millionaires, and while some are, a quick internet search might show you otherwise. For example, (and I won't name any names) how do you teach real estate investing and present yourself as a millionaire real estate investor when the tax records from your county show you live in a home that’s worth less than $150k??? That's all public record. It is not a hard scam to punch holes through.

The format is the same for all of these events. They are usually three days. The first day is spent getting the crowd hyped up. They want everyone so excited to come in on day one, that when the doors open it is like a black Friday stampede to get the best seat in the store. Then they spend the first day and half building your hopes and inspiring your dreams by having several speakers or panel discussions from others who have "made it." Day two, about mid-afternoon, brace for impact. Here comes the pitch. This is the part where they ask you for a ridiculous amount of money so you can help make them richer, errr, ummm, I mean so they can make you rich and successful.

Let's be real, nobody can make you rich and successful BUT YOU.

My advice to you... Always remember that the coaching industry and people in it ARE NOT regulated. There is no way for you to know if they truly are qualified to coach you. Do not just take their word for it. Do your research. Ask questions. Use discernment. Do not just blindly follow these people and give them your hard earned money so you can pay for their lavish lifestyles. Do not let them rip you off.

Is there some good information presented at these conferences? Sure. But it's a "take what you want and leave the rest behind" type of situation. Don't get caught up in the lights, music and hype. Let it motivate you, but hold on to your wallet, tightly.
