You Have Talented Employees So Stop Outsourcing Their Work

Outsourcing some aspects of a business can be a good way for a smaller company to focus on their line of business while leaving the “extra” tasks to a professional. When the company has a smaller number of employees it might make sense to have an outside company handle different aspects of the work, such as IT or Marketing. But once a company has grown and spent a significant amount of time and money hiring qualified individuals, then it makes no sense to continue to outsource work.

While it can be challenging to transition tasks from external resources to in-house resources, companies should make the effort and allow their employees every opportunity to shine.

Continuing to outsource means that the external company must be closely monitored at all times to manage the relationship, agreements, project deliverables and cash-flow. Furthermore, you have no way to guarantee that the outsourced company will stay in business. Can they adapt to the growing and changing needs of your company? It is important to remember that outside companies have zero stake in your business, so you are entering territory that full of potential risk.

In the end, outsourcing costs your company more money and doesn't promote collaboration among various teams within your organization. By keeping work internal, you allow your employees to grow and learn from others, improve their performance, and gain broader knowledge of your business, thereby making your company better through its people. It makes far more sense to utilize existing employees who are committed to their employer and who will align the priorities of the job to match the companies goals, ensuring a successful future for both.

Your company and your employees deserve that.
